Water: How Important Is It To Our Health?

Experts say getting enough water can lower your risk of a number of diseases and ailments!

  • Blood clots – being hydrated can lower clot risk and may offer protection from a stroke

  • Heart disease – one study showed drinking 5 glasses of water a day halved the risk of fatal heart disease

  • Kidney stones – diluting the urine may prevent kidney stones and urinary tract infections

  • Cancer – may lower risk of bladder cancer by flushing out cancer-causing particles

  • Mental fuzziness, crankiness and fatigue – being dehydrated may cause these symptoms

  • Excess weight – drinking a few glasses before meals may lower calorie consumption

 

Make sure you consume at least half you weight in ounces of water; if you weigh 200 pounds, you should get at least 100 oz of water daily.
